If MO2 didn't come with LOOT then you should download it and install it. Here is the URL to this guide if you don't see it on the address bar:įor Fallout 3, I will be using Mod Organizer 2. To download these mods faster, open this page up in a web browser so that you can pop them open in a tab without the "You are leaving Steam" message every time. If you want to go the other route, then install the game, use the bugfix patch and ignore FOSE and related plugins. So this guide will be following in that direction, to roll back the game version by 1 number (using the anniversary updater) to be able to use FOSE and related plug-ins. I want to use FOSE and the current requirements for that are v.1.7.0.3, the rollback version. I don't want to travel down that path, so I have reluctantly decided not to use the Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch. I'm using more than 30 FOSE plugins in this loadout.Īnother kicker is that the Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch recommends you to use v.1.7.0.4 and also says it requires FOSE, but they don't have instructions on how to get FOSE running on that version, nor do they have any instructions for how to get the Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch to work on v.1.7.0.3. First decision, do you or do you not want to use FOSE? Passing up FOSE means lots of mods will no longer work. Well FOSE doesn't support v.1.7.0.4 and recommends downgrading to v.1.7.0.3, and this is the crossroads. It is a highly required mod if you want do some really cool things in the game that don't count toward the mod limit or bog down the game. We are at a crossroads with the Fallout 3 Script Extender (FOSE). Which version you use will depend on which mods you want to use and I am sorry to say that you can't really have it both ways, unless FOSE updates to support the latest Fallout 3 version. It's not even that difficult to mod (you just can't use FOSE). The latest version is easiest to play, just install it, and play (for most of us). The latest Fallout 3 version is 1.7.0.4, but a slightly rolled back version (to 1.7.0.3) is still widely used. For modding Fallout 3, you're really going to have to make a decision between two game versions.
